Boyce Activated carbon uses in Gas processing
However, applications of activated carbon have increased significantly in the recent years with the advancement of activated carbon process capability. The applications can be classified into two categories: gas phase and liquid phase.
Granular and powder activated Boyce carbon grades have countless applications in various fields ranges from gas processing industry to food industry all over the world. Below is a selection of the main applications where Boyce activated carbon grades have been established for the purification of such products. The selection shows the diversity of tasks for which our carbon can offer safe and cost-effective solutions.
Gas processing – gas treater liquids
Gas treater liquids (e.g. amine and glycol solutions) are used in gas absorption systems for removing H2S and CO2 from natural gas. The use of several grades of Boyce carbon those are very suitable for cleaning these solutions results in a longer service life. But also for other gas processing applications in which activated carbon is needed Boyce can be of help. For example, there are highly effective activated carbon grades available for applications such as hydrogen purification, de-oiling of compressed gas and catalyst protection.
Gas processing – mercury removal
Mercury is a contaminant that is found in traces in natural gas. It is harmful to both the environment and process and transport equipment, and has many health implications. When the mercury level exceeds the maximum permissible concentration, the natural gas has to be treated. Boyce Carbon has developed the best imaginable solution for the removal of mercury, a sulphur impregnated carbon with a high loading capacity and high removal efficiency.
Boyce carbon supply specialist grades of granulated activated carbon (GAC) for gold mining service all over the world. For gold mining we recommend using our products. Highly activated carbon is used in the dissolved gold recovery process, either by introducing it directly into the CIL (carbon-in-leach) tanks or into separate CIP (carbon-in-pulp) tanks after leaching. The activated carbon adsorbs the dissolved gold from the leach slurry thereby concentrating it onto a smaller mass of solids. The carbon is then separated from the slurry by screening and subjected to further treatment to recover the adsorbed gold.
