What is a Drinking Water Filter System?

Activated Carbon Filtration:
Activated carbon is a porous form of carbon which is primarily derived from coal, charcoal, wood and coconut shells for rigorous treatment of water. This filter works by chemical adsorption and physical screening of contaminants.
The carbon performs adsorption or adsorbs the contaminants by blocking and collecting organic molecules and other chemical particles on its highly porous surface. They have two major types, i.e. granulated activated carbon (GAC) and carbon block.
Carbon block filters consist of dense granules of carbon fused into a uniform block with powerful adsorptive capacity. Whereas GAC consist of loose carbon granules and are less dense than carbon block.
Reverse Osmosis
Osmosis is the process of diffusion wherein two fluids with unequal concentration of a particular substance are trying to reach to equilibrium through diffusion across a semi-permeable membrane.
Reverse osmosis in drinking water filter system, is the reverse of normal osmosis process in which water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane with a higher concentration of contaminants to produce filtered water with lower concentration of contaminants.
Reverse osmosis systems are not recommended for human use because they do not successfully remove all bacteria, virus and contaminants from the water.
