It is well known that solid carbons can be found in various guises with different forms of bulk phases (graphites, diamonds and carbynes) as well as more molecular forms (fullerenes, nanotubes and graphenes) resulting from recent discoveries. The cause of this rich polymorphism is analyzed in the first part of this book (chapters 1-5) with the propensity of carbon atoms for forming different types of homopolar chemical bonds associated with variable coordination numbers. Precursor organic molecules and parent compounds are also described to establish specific links with this rich polymorphism. Then in a second part (chapters 6-10) a comparative review of the main classes of bulk physical properties is presented. This approach emphasizes in particular the electronic behavior of (pi) polyaromatic systems organized in plane and curved atomic sheets. Finally in a third part (chapters 11-15) the surface and interface characteristics are introduced together with the texture and morphology of these multiscale carbon materials. An overview of the main field of applications is related showing the large use and interest for these solids.

Say What is on Your Mind With Carbon Fiber Vinyl

Having great signage is important to any company. Customers cannot find you if you do not have proper signage to allow them to know where you are located. Signs can be used in many ways, not just on the actual building of the business. They can be used on posts around town to allow people to catch sales or they can be put on magnetic material for advertising on vehicles. There is no end to the ways in which signs are used to get customers to choose your company over others. One material that is often overlooked when creating signage is carbon fiber vinyl.

Any sign maker knows that the most cost effective type of signage are those that are made from vinyl materials because it is not expensive and can be used in a multitude of ways. Using a plotter, it can be cut into any shape for layering and it can also be used to cut out letters to offer addresses and phone numbers of the company. Carbon fiber vinyl works in the same way as other types of vinyl but offers a more three dimensional effect that can be lacking in plain colored vinyl. While the colors offered at this time are minimal, black, white and gray with both matte and gloss finishes, it can be used with other vinyl types to add more color to the sign.

When plotted, carbon fiber vinyl sheets can be made into any lettering or graphic design in the exact same way as regular vinyl is used. For a dramatic look, you can overlay a sign with black carbon fiber vinyl and then use a glossy white carbon fiber for the lettering and logo work. Or you can reverse the look and use white with a dark gray matte finish for the lettering. There is no end to the combinations if you decide to use regular vinyl in conjunction with the carbon fiber.

To plot carbon fiber vinyl, simply put it on the plotter and run a test cut. You may need to increase the pressure up from the pressure that you use for regular vinyl, as it is slightly thicker. This ensures a proper cut and easy weeding of the material particularly when the design is intricate and has small characters. Once you have the pressure set, run your graphic and lettering through the plotter just as you would with any other vinyl material and weed. Use transfer tape to apply and you can say what is on your mind with carbon fiber vinyl.

Carbon fiber vinyl is just as versatile as any other type of vinyl on the market today. You can get a unique look when you use this material for signs and it really makes a statement beyond the message that is being displayed. It can be cut on a plotter and installed in the exact same way that other graphic vinyl is used. Just make sure to adjust the pressure so that the carbon fiber is cut thoroughly for easy weeding.
